Bank control on calendering lines

Applications

To improve material quality and optimise production process on calendering lines it's very important to control and automatically adjust material feed on the rolls, as well as to uniform its distribution.

Quantity and distribution control can be carried out by using , a system with CCD or infrared cameras.

CCD Cameras

Are used for light colours and/or transparent materials. One or more cameras are positioned in pressurized containers, in order to avoid any contact with fumes and/or process deposits.

Infrared cameras

Are used for every type of material, independently from colour, measuring also bank superficial temperature.
The image, suitably processed by the system, is represented through a dedicated colour video page (thermal map).

Automatic bank control is obtained taking into account the image referred to by one of the two systems and, if the line is equipped with one of

measuring devices, the hourly output of the line, real-time calculated.
The system can adjust the timing of the wig-wag device for assuring a distribution bank uniformity as well as vary speed ratio between feeding unit and calender in order to keep material quantity constant.
